Chimpanzee Habitat Project

@Beni, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Degradation of forests through logging, mining, farming, and other forms of land development is contributing to the decline of primate species throughout tropical Africa. The remaining habitat patches are often small and unconnected, leaving chimpanzee populations isolated.

One of these isolated area is Beni northeast of Congo, where I had the honor to manage a Hugh survey in order to make sure the Chimpanzee Habitat has the right kind of trees and plants.
